Bob Beles was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 17, 1942. He graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Psychology in 1964 and immediately moved to San Francisco for law school. Mr. Beles graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1967. He has practiced criminal law since his induction into the State Bar of California in 1968. From 1968 to 1979, Mr. Beles was an assistant Alameda County Public Defender, where he learned firsthand the inner workings of the criminal justice system. He started his own practice in 1979. Mr. Beles has personally tried over 100 jury trials ranging from misdemeanors to death penalty murders. He was certified by the State Bar as a Criminal Law Specialist in 1975. Mr. Beles and his wife, Sally have been married for 42 years. They have three daughters and a granddaughter. The eldest is a teacher. The youngest is a graduate student. His daughter, Annie, is an experienced criminal defense attorney with the Law Offices of Robert J. Beles. In high profile cases, Bob and Annie team up to form a strong father-daughter defense team. Mr. Beles, in his practice today, believes in hands-on attention to all clients and a team effort to effectuate the best results. Mr. Beles believes strongly that no human being should stand accused by the government without the assistance of a competent and caring lawyer.
