Founder Robert Beles began his own criminal defense law firm in 1979 after a decade of experience as an Alameda County Public Defender. Since 1975, he has been a criminal law specialist certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

His daughter, attorney Annie Beles has been an integral part of the team at the Law Offices of Robert J. Beles since long before she had even entered law school. Attorney Jerry Lipkin has tried dozens of jury trials, and negotiated hundreds of other criminal cases outside of court. Lawyer Demetrius Costy focuses on defense of drug and assault cases.
